Detailed imaging to identify the root cause of pain and guide the most effective treatment plan.

Service overview

An MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) scan uses strong magnetic fields and radio waves to create detailed images of organs, joints, muscles, ligaments, and tendons. It helps identify underlying causes of pain or injury, especially when symptoms don’t match examination findings or when problems persist despite treatment.

Accurate Diagnosis
High-resolution images help pinpoint the exact cause of pain or injury.

Targeted Treatment
Provides information needed to create an effective treatment plan.

Peace of Mind
Confirms or rules out serious conditions, giving clarity and reassurance.

What to expect?

Clinical Assessment First
A full history of your symptoms and a physical examination will be carried out to decide if an MRI is necessary. Most musculoskeletal problems don’t require immediate scanning and can often be managed with conservative treatment first.

Referral Process
If an MRI is appropriate—such as for surgical planning, ruling out serious conditions, or when recovery isn’t progressing—a referral will be made to an imaging provider.

Scan & Follow-up
Once your MRI is complete, the results will be reviewed, and your treatment plan will be adjusted accordingly. Even if no major issues are found, your physiotherapist can guide you with safe and effective rehabilitation.

Treatments available

An MRI may be considered if symptoms persist despite physiotherapy or conservative treatment, if there is suspicion of nerve involvement, or when precise imaging is needed for surgical planning.

The process begins with a thorough assessment of your symptoms, medical history, and physical condition. If an MRI is appropriate, a referral will be made to an imaging provider. Once the scan is completed, the results are reviewed, and your treatment plan is adjusted accordingly. This approach ensures that any serious conditions are identified, your care is targeted effectively, and you receive guidance on recovery and rehabilitation.
